Full Moon rising

And finally

The last full moon of the year, and the decade, on the last day of the year.

And, after owning the camera for two years, and a whole year of Project 365 - I finally (finally!) figured out the setting to let me photograph the moon, indoors, through double glazing, without flash or extreme blurriness.

M - for Manual, or as I now like to call it - Moon setting.

And yes! Project 365 is done, and no, I will not be signing up for another year.  I have to admit to cheating fairly often - although I'd think of something to photograph each day, I wouldn't always actually take the picture that day.  I'm so relieved that the pressure is off!

287. Spoilt

That fancy-pants Canon EOS 30D has clearly spoilt me.  I took my trusty point and shot Canon IXUS 500 to the quilt show yesterday and here is a sample of the terrible photos I took.

The quilts were a lot less blurry and more beautiful in real life, honest.

219. Cat meets bird

On the right, human (neighbour clearing the snow off his car). 

Across the bottom, bird (hopping innocently).  On the left, cat (possibly at a run).  Both seem to end somewhat abruptly.  I wonder what happened ...

185. Culture

I'd planned on visiting either the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum or the Victoria and Albert Museum but once I'd reached the hotel, I was exhausted. 

Probably because I stopped here on the way to the hotel - I walked across the Millennium Bridge from Blackfriars and wandered around the free exhibits.  I do believe I am quite taken with the work of Sol LeWitt.

The video/dvd on the left is supposed to be auto-updating, time wise.  I don't think that feature is working too well.

7. Looking up

Now that I'm blogging again, I woke up this morning and thought "Saturday.  That means Saturday Sky".  It crossed my mind that I started the SS project around this time of year, nearly two years ago, and that perhaps before I dived in again, I should finish up the first round.

I promised Sandy ages ago that I would write this up and so here we are, my very first book:



Mind you, the publishing run was very short - a limited edition of one copy!



Each Saturday gets its own page, and then at the back I put them altogether as a kind of index.

I only wish that the back garden was somewhat differently situated - no glorious sunrises or sunsets for me.  But this project did make me look up and take time to appreciate my other surroundings, inside of always walking head down, watching where I put my feet.

Next up - I'm going to try and honour my Project 365 promise.  Six months later than anticipated but that's life for you.
