Summer is really over

Too little, too late

The beetroot is barely there, the sweetcorn is supposed to be a mini variety but still not fully formed, and the cucumber, well.  Let's just say, compost here you come.

Next year, tomatoes yes.  Beetroot and melon-flavoured turnip yes, but sow in springtime please.  Sweetcorn, you get another go, but again, let's sow earlier than July and plant out this time.

And the sugar snap peas - or mange tout? - yes definitely, although again earlier and must keep away from the cat-boys. 

The peppers, well - the yellow one that got planted out was overshadowed by the tomato monsters, the red one still in the pot, only has one fruit, which is stubbornly green.  We shall see ...

Aubergine

Strawberry flowers are white, courgette flowers are yellow, but aubergine flowers are kind of aubergine.   Who would have guessed that?

The beaded version isn't quite finished yet, and I'd hoped for a little less harsh definition in the purple veins, but I'm pretty pleased with it.
