So like life in this house (except for the football, of course).
I started working on this band some time ago.
(I was watching old episodes of Stargate, and the Earth symbol just happened to creep in there, so it's the StarGate Band from now on).
I've been struggling with the concept of creating a completely beaded clasp. Although metal is efficient and purposeful, I just want the jewellery to be thread and beads and no more. (No magnets, no allergic reactions, no danger).
I already had one pointy end done, with the black ring, and so yesterday after swatching and wearing a hole in my finger, I thought I'd try and finish this piece. I am really pleased, especially given the flukey nature of my method (hey, let's try this now!).
The points allow the band to flex around my wrist (or hand, it's a little big) and not look too weird. It's more of a cuff than the delicate bracelet I had in mind, but for my first creation I think I did alright.
All I need now is some earrings and a pendant to match. (I must co-ordinate at all times, you see).
It was a disappointing magazine day, all round.
Simply Knitting turned up and I don't know why I continue to subscribe. Baby clothes, toys, three patterns in Patons yarn, and a tea and cup cozy set. I am really not their demographic. Still the payment's gone now (surprise - you are £32.00 worse off this month!), so they have another year of my non-devoted attention.
And then there's Rowan 44. I get that it's a special issue, 30 years and all. But there were only two patterns I vaguely liked the look of, and I would never knit or wear either of them so ... not the winter issue I was hoping for. I think finally the Rowan affair has run its course.
